Nicole Tosi is a research fellow She graduated in Genomic, Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Parma and is a PhD Candidate in Food Science. She has a strong interest in the fields of nutrimetabolomics and nutrigenomics. Her current research is focused in personalized nutrition and deals with the analysis of the inter-individual variability in the metabolism of (poly)phenols, in order to identify metabolic phenotypes (metabotypes) in the urinary excretion of phenolic metabolites. In particular, she is dealing with in vitro faecal fermentation studies and human intervention trials investigating the relationship between (poly)phenol metabolism, gut microbiota and health outcomes. She applies nutrimetabolomics analysis to biological samples using HPLC-MSn techniques, and she uses multivariate data analysis, in particular PCA and PLS-DA, to identify putative phenolic metabotypes.
